Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of Deano van Rooyen as their 13th player to leave the club ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 29-year-old midfielder parted ways by mutual consent following discussions about his future, bringing the total exits since June to 13. Van Rooyen joins a list of players exiting Mayfair, including Thabiso Sesane, Selaelo Rasebotja, Siyabonga Ndlozi, Gomolemo Khoto, Sonwabo Khumalo, Blessing Ngiba, and Seth Green, who moved to Durban City FC. The club also saw departures in July, with seven players leaving for clubs across the Premier Soccer League pyramid.
Orlando Pirates have finalized transfers to clubs like Siwelele FC, Sekhukhune United, and Midlands Wanderers FC. Van Rooyen follows Sesane and Rasebotja to Siwelele FC, while Ndlozi and Khoto joined Sekhukhune United. Khumalo and Ngiba moved to Midlands Wanderers, with Green joining Durban City FC. The club also parted ways with Bandile Shandu, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Karim Kimvuidi, and Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto) after their contracts ended.
The Buccaneers have also bolstered their squad with nine new signings, including Thapelo Mokobodi from Stellenbosch FC on a three-year deal. Other arrivals include Sebastian Pedersen, Neo Rapoo, Sbangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato, Matome Mmolai, Gamphani Lungu, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, and Aphiwe Baliti, who joined from Siwelele FC before being loaned back.
